USS Victory - Bridge by bobye2 USS Victory - Bridge by bobye2
I did this one as a commission for beauwolf9856 (beauwolf9856.deviantart.com/). It's a Bridge of the ship named USS Victory, which is a ship of Eximius class, set in early 2380’s. Eximius class was designed by Cleeve (Don Woligroski).
Model of this ship you can see here: (

Because it looks cool and I think I might be able to spawn a 24th/25th Century Constitution Battle/Auxilliary Bridge design from it

I've think I've always preferred ships where there isn't a First Officer Chair.
I can see the uses of it but guess to me it seems like he/she is just an extension of the Captain.
I prefer it when the First Officer is actually doing something: Spock= Chief Science Officer

Really nice bridge. I don't like the Prometheus bridge, but I love the style here, and your execution is fantastic as always!

Yes... it is based on the Prometheus bridge.

Really? It reminds me of the Enterprise-B's bridge. www.ex-astris-scientia.org/gal…

Prometheus, Equinox, Enterprises A, Enterprise B, Dauntless, Voyager, Excelsior and Enterprise E bridges were all built using the same set redressed. The bridges are modular which allows for the same bridge to be used for other ships. So using this for a Connie is easy or an Excelsior.

Oh I know that, I've even used that fact in a debate about what constitutes appropriate bridge placement.

I argued that the Federation style was ideal because easy access to swap out the bridge for an upgrade, completely enclosed (i.e. no 'View Window' in the original timeline), and small size compared to other Sci-Fi bridges.

Some people may argue that the bridge should be in the center of the ship, but with the kind of firepower in series that wouldn't protect the bridge crew any more than its current location. Part of the reason we don't do that in real life is because if something has enough energy to punch through the hull, a bunch of deck plates aren't going to have much of an effect.

In fact, battleship rounds could easily over-penetrate thinner destroyer and frigate hulls in WWII which causes minimal damage. This is why they had special timed fuses that would detonate the rounds inside the ship for maximum damage. (A common misconception is that the deck plates slowed or stopped the rounds.)

The hull around the bridge is just as thick as the rest of the hull since armor belts don't make sense in a space, so you could justify putting anything almost anywhere in the ship as it would be equally protected.

I very much like your design.  I liked the Prometheus bridge, but like many of the bridges since Deep Space Nine was sterile and colourless.  I realise Ops of Deep Space Nine was a Cardassian design, but is was better than the Voyager bridge.  It just seemed to lack character.  Enterprise-D's Bridge was just too big, in my opinion. The original Enterprise and movie versions were almost a character itself.  NX-01 's bridge was perfect for the theme of they presented.  They just seemed to over compensate with lighting and white paint with the reboots.
